Who is Using Hyperion DRM?

Combing through some of Oracle’s literature from the Nov 2007 OpenWorld on Hyperion DRM, I am delighted and surprised 125+ customers adopted the use of this tool. Now I am not sure if this figure is every company since the Razza days or if it’s since the Hyperion acquisition. But I guess if it’s the former than the skilled professional who has implemented this are few, maybe even less in a production environment. Nevertheless, I am happy to be one of those that had learn everything about this powerful tool.

Hyperion DRM 9.3 Install Requirement

Below are the recommended spec for installing Hyperion Data Relationship Management 9.3. However, alot of us won’t be running out to get several pieces of hardware to run this. And so, for my test install at home, I was able to put it all onto one server. My home server spec:

Intel Quad Core Q6600 CPU
4Gb RAM
300Gb SATA Hard Drive
Window Server 2003 Standard Edition SP1

History of Hyperion MDM

The history of Oracle DRM goes way back to a company called Razza Solutions pre-1995. The company marketed a product called Razza Dimension Server (Razza DS), and had about thirty Fortune 500 as customers. In January, 2005, Hyperion acquired the company with Razza’s 15-person staff became Hyperion employees. Since Hyperion’s acquisition, the product was marketed as Hyperion Master Data Management (MDM) Server. They also integrated it as part of Hyperion’s System 9 Business Intelligence Platform.
