Since agust 2010, there is a new standalone Essbase Excel add-in installer available in 11.1.1.3. The version is 11.1.1.3.11 and can be downloaded from metalink – patch # 9147550.

Hi Tonia, use 9.3.1 add-in and it’ll work fine unless you absolutely need version 11 features. In that case, we maybe able to help offline.

Hi Sam,

Long time no see. I was able to create a little package of about 700Mb instead of 3Gb to get the Excel add-in working. It’s smaller to install definitely. Of course, due to license agreements and all, I won’t be able to share it publicly. SmartView is probably the way to go but not all functions in the Excel addins are available. Fingers crossed…

Hi Daniel,

I had exactly the same reaction/feeling as you when I saw this non sense regarding client installer size.
I opened a case at Oracle Support, some months ago, and labs confirmed that they will make available an add-in installer similar to the SmartView one – hope to see it in the coming 11.1.1.3 release!

I have tried to get the install down to about 600Mb for the plugin only. It’s not the bestcase. I guess using smartview is the only option out there as it’s much smaller footprint.

I installed the Essbase Excel Add-in v11.1.1.2 by downloading 3 files. The installer, the client, and only part 1 of the Foundations file. It still was still 3GB, but I put it on a server and installed from there, avoiding further downloads. I’m going to set up a silent install.
