Oracle® Hyperion Data Relationship Management, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.1

Posted by: Daniel In: Oracle Data Relationship Management

The Hyperion Data Relationship Management, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.1 has now been released to the public, along with all the other Hyperion apps. One first glance, the name has gone even longer and the release version has gone up a bit more than a notch. Personally, I think it’s kind of funny that:

  1. they skipped on version 10. Just like Hyperion skipped on System 8??? Maybe even numbers are not marketing friendly;
  2. they release it under a dot release 11.1.1 as oppose to 11.0. Historically, some customers know not to touch a product when it’s on a “.0″ dot zero release, and wait for a later release. Maybe that’s why some of us can be really confused thinking the product is actually been patched a few times already; or stupid enough to think there were a “.0″ dot zero release. Of course I heard that Oracle wants to line up this release with the rest of the “11″ products but I am skeptical. OK…now here’s a run down…

on how you can access the newest and greatest line up of the OBIEE+ platform. I’ll try to play with it in the next few weeks but for all you folks ready to jump in and grab the latest toy to play, you can go to the usual place to download.

1. Go to http://edelivery.oracle.com

2. Select on the drop down box. Don’t go for the usual ‘Hyperion Performance Management and BI’ because that’s only going to give you the release up to v9.3.1. Instead select ‘Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System’. And then select the platform. At this stage you’ll only see the Windows platform and the others will be added in the later quarter.

OK, now you can download to your hearts content. That’s because the entire suite is a huge download. The individual components were also available. I’d suggest you start with the first link to review all the new features and figure out if it’s worth upgrading now or later.

For those who are not yet ready to download it all as yet, you can still read about it on the online documentation site:

    Hi,

I am planning to migrate DRM 9.3 to 11.1.1 version. During the upgrade, I would like to know whether I can upgrade the client first instead of server. Can the client 11.1.1 version talk to 9.3 version? If so, what steps I need to follow?

    Thanks

Have you had success installing 11..1.2?

I installed this on Windows 2008, but received the following message when trying to use the web-client:

    Could not find file ‘C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\DataRelationshipManagement\client\web-client\drm-web.config’

This file (drm-web.config) is not present. Any ideas on which process creates this file? I’m beginning to think it is an IIS 7.0 issue.

    Thanks

I now have the drm-web.config file. Don’t ask me how it appeared magically in the directory it was suppose to be in. There are two things I did that may have caused this to appear:
    1) I did a re-install, and configured a new database using the Wizard. I then started and stopped, then restarted the Application through the DRM Console.
    2) In IIS, I changed the permissions for all files in the drm-web-client to “not” be read only. There is little risk in my closed environment.

Needless to say, I have made a backup of this file for future needs.

Good to know. Yes alot of people don’t configure DRM Web Publisher correctly, it almost felt like it’s a separate product because of the configurations you need to get thru
