Hyperion Essbase 9.3 Developer Certification

Posted by: Daniel In: Hyperion Essbase

Never thought I’d need this. Afterall who needs a piece of paper when you’ve worked with Essbase since the Arbor days back in 1996. But like my CPA, MBA or other certifications, I figured it may be useful one day. So I took it and did it:

Hi Daniel,

Welcome Aboard!
Congratulations on earning your new “HYPERION CERTIFIED DEVELOPER (HCD) – Hyperion System 9 Essbase 9.3” certification! You new status as a Hyperion Certified Developer means that you’ve joined among the ranks of those who have proven their proficient development skills and knowledge with Hyperion System 9 Essbase 9.3.

Woo hoo… If you need more info about this certification you can visit…

The price has gone down significantly than when the certification was first launched. It was over US$300 back then, what a bargain!

Hi Daniel,

Congo mate. I’m working in hfm and migrating to essbase. How did you go about your exam? Just the bootcamp would do, or did you go for any specific dumps?

Regards,
Tony

I had been working with Essbase for over 10 years, so getting certification was just icing in the cake (nice to have)! If you’re new to Essbase, I heard from my colleague that if you do the 5 day BootCamp training and studied the training material, you’re very likely to be able to pass the HCD exam since quite a few questions do come from that. Good luck!

One of the condition of keeping the certification is to keep the exam secret. It’s open book exam, if you studied your Bootcamp training material, you’ll pass it. it’s not that hard, and you have plenty of time to flip your book. Do bring along the Essbase Admin Guide, maybe the PDF so that you can do the usual PDF word search if you need answers. And if you fail, you lose $125 and you can do it again. My source tells me (since I have not failed one), that the questions are pretty much the same second time for him. Hope that helps.

Hi,

We are using 9.0.4.12 (MDM Version).

I am trying to use the Search functionality from Hyperion MDM Server Web Client and giving below error message.

Tried to Call method ‘SearchForNode’ with these parameters.(Version=FY0909 SEP-09, Hier=CNTINT, SearchProp=Abbrev,SearchText=*800).The server responded with ‘ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE’

1) I did checked the Oracle connection and its working fine
2) DAL configuration is fine.

Regards,
Srini

Check the MDM Console for errors. Also you can make changes to the database configuration (i.e. username/password/database instance).
